Security officers work in the present tense. They staff a front desk, control access, patrol a parking lot, watch cameras, respond to alarms and act as a visible deterrent. Their value comes from being seen and from responding quickly when something happens on their watch, then writing an incident report.
A uniformed presence is the right answer when the goal is prevention: a construction site that keeps getting hit overnight, a clinic that needs a calm person at the door, or an event where crowd control matters. What guards are generally not set up to do is spend weeks quietly tracing a pattern, interviewing witnesses or tying a loss to a specific person.
